Award given for the initiative: Enterprise Cloud Adoption - Leveraging cloud for Customer Strategy - Government BMC, over the years has invested heavily in technology to improve efficiency of its operations as well to provide better citizen services. This strategy has resulted in multiple applications developed by various departments of BMC. Many applications were hosted on-premise, however rising cost and limitation on resources provided BMC the impetus to think for a better and optimal strategy for hosting
After a thorough internal discussion as well as discussions with experts, BMC made a conscious choice of migrating its application to cloud. At BMC, we have a hybrid cloud approach, where all the citizen centric services are on cloud i.e., 100% G2C application on cloud. Only few applications, which are development and quality application, are available on-premises.
We were among the first government organizations to move to the cloud. Migrating to cloud has not been a very smooth journey for us, but we understood the importance & benefits cloud provides and moved to cloud as early as 2016. Here are the key benefits we were able to avail - Agile system - it helps in eliminate recurring procurement process, have less Time to provision, Efficient Utilization & No or minimum Downtime It also provides a Universal resource access, ensuring Anytime Anywhere availability and better Management and monitoring One of the biggest concerns for all Government organizations are data security, which can be easily handled via continuous & latest updates provided by service provider
We always remain cautious on the security front and for the same reason ensure that we adopt the cloud services from the reputed Cloud service providers who are Meity empaneled and are in compliance with state as well as central government data privacy and protections guidelines.
